Summer Camps

Our offerings

Day Camp

Liggett’s Day Camp, the standard of summer fun for generations of children, is back and better than ever. Campers will learn basic skills of arts and crafts, archery, tennis, swimming singing and drama, sports, science and nature. In addition, the campers will have special events and activities throughout the season.
 
For: Students entering grades 1-5 this fall; campers are grouped by grade and gender.

Hours: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday

Session 1: June 24-July 3
Session 2: July 8-19
Session 3: July 22-August 2

Themes for the weeks for both day camp and junior day camp

Session One
Week 1: June 24- 28 Let the Party Begin
Campers will celebrate the start of summer in style with an all-camp birthday extravaganza, ultimate splash bash and dance party!  Piñatas, party games, water balloon toss, music and more are sure to make this party one you won’t want miss!
 
Week 2: July 1-3 Holiday Hoopla   
Deck the halls with -- all the festivities of your favorite holidays in one week!  Monday is Christmas in July, Tuesday is Halloween, and Wednesday we celebrate Independence Day. Santa and snowmen, costumes and trick-or-treating, and a good ol’-fashioned Fourth of July cookout will make this week the new most wonderful time of year!
 
Session Two
Week 3: July 8-12 Pirates
Arrrrrrrre you ready to go on a pirate adventure? This week campers will build their own cardboard pirate ships to sail across the pool, hunt for buried treasure, and explore the uncharted lands and waters of the Ford Estate on a special field trip. So strap on your eye patch, hoist your flag high, and get ready to walk the plank, mate!
 
Week 4: July 15-19 Carnival
The famous Liggett Day Camp carnival and auction are back, and better than ever!  This week is filled with games, face paint, prizes, and popcorn galore, as campers prepare for end of the week carnival and auction. Send your counselor to the dunk tank and be amazed by a magician, plus, our fourth- and fifth-grade campers are invited to stay for an awesome overnight at camp on Thursday! 
 
Session Three
Week 5: July 22-26 Safari
Lions, and tigers and bears, what fun! This week we are wild about animals. Campers will learn about a variety of animals through games, activities, and a special visit from The Little Creatures. Come see what exotic friends Dan the Creature Man brings along!
 
Week 6: July 29-August 2 Week of Champions
We kick off the week with our opening ceremonies for the first ever Liggett Day Camp Olympics!  Sack races, archery, water balloon toss, and noodle races in the pool are just a few of the events campers will compete in throughout the week. Finally, our closing ceremonies will include the much anticipated Camper Show and end of camp slide show. Come celebrate the champion in us all! 

Junior Day Camp

Our littlest campers enjoy all the fun of Day Camp at their own educational level. Campers will explore games, stories, music, science, art and swimming. Each week, activities will be based on a theme and special events will add to the experience.
 
For: 3- and 4-year-olds and students entering kindergarten this fall. Campers must turn 3 by June 15 and be potty trained in order to attend.
 
Hours: 9 a.m.-Noon for 3- and 4-year-olds; 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for those entering kindergarten.

Sports Camps
 
Our Sports Camps, run by University Liggett School coaches, focus on strengthening skills and fundamentals of baseball, basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.
 
For: Students entering grades 1-10 this fall.

Academic Boot Camps

Middle School Language Arts
It’s time to fire up those academic neurons before returning to school.  This seminar-style class will provide students with individual help needed to be successful in language arts.  Students will write effective paragraphs, read for main ideas, and receive tips on how to approach novels, short stories and poems effectively.  In addition, students will strengthen their overall grammar skills.  Join us and get that needed academic boost!

Middle School Math I
Here’s a chance for students to brush off those cobwebs and recall some basic math skills.  Topics covered will include, but are not limited to the following:  adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions, decimals, and integers (positive and negative numbers).  Students will also strengthen their critical thinking and problem solving skills in preparation for the upcoming school year.

Middle School Math II
Already have a good base knowledge of early middle school math?  This course picks up where MSM I left off.  Students will tackle algebra, geometry and statistics.  Explore study tips and techniques related to linear equations, functions and probability, to name a few.

Middle School Spanish
 
¡Hola! Come spend some time this summer brushing up on your Spanish-language skills!  In this class you will receive individualized attention to your learning style and needs.  With practice and reinforcement of all of the basic skill areas; reading, writing, speaking, and listening to Spanish, you will be ready to begin a successful year of Spanish study.  The focus of this class will be on building a strong foundation of grammar and vocabulary, and will leave you feeling confident and ready to tackle a new school year.

Middle School Forensic Science
 
Have you ever dreamed of being part of a CSI team? This course explores the techniques used in forensic science.  It provides a description of specific types of evidence and the strategies used to collect and analyze the evidence.  As students progress through the course, they refine the techniques and apply them to other areas of study.  Scenarios are taken from headlines and popular media and presented to students as challenges for them to tackle.  The laboratory setting provides students with an appreciation for the true nature of forensic science problem-solving techniques.
