2019 Specialty Camps:

New!!! Kids Empowered: Fun With Harry Potter®

This camp utilizes the fun and magic theme of Harry Potter! Campers will learn and grow through Harry Potter themed crafts, games, movies and role-play. They will become versed in how to get into the “friendly house,” and how to respond in an empowered way to the “Slytherans.” We will learn about managing our stress/emotions and being brave like Harry. Kids will also learn how to manage the “chambers of secrets,” and the impact of the “brewing of gossip.” Most importantly, we will learn the magic spells to shut unfriendly situations down.

Campers should bring a snack and beverage in non-breakable container. Camp includes Harry Potter themed games, craft activities, mindfulness, role-playing and physical activity.

For rising 2nd to 5th graders

The Mad Scientists

Come join us for a class taught by Mark Sonnenberg and designed to find the MIND-BLOWING Scientist in all of us. Have you seen the crazy things that you can do with dry ice? Dangerously cold! Care to experience Elephant Toothpaste? It’s super hot! Do you know what happens when sodium metal is placed in water? It’s quite explosive! How about sulfuric acid and sugar? We’ll be safe, but the results are toxic! How flammable do you think hydrogen gas is? Very! We will put eggs in vinegar, corn syrup, then water over the course of a few days causing some very weird results. And these are just SOME of the awesome things we will experience. And we’re not talking demos - you’ll get to do these experiments YOURSELF.

So if you like to blow things up and make chemical reactions your mom would never let you do at home, come be a MAD SCIENTIST with Mr. S! (Don’t worry, moms … we’ll be safe!)

For rising 2nd – 5th graders

Math in Action!

Discovery through games, challenges and hands-on learning!

Stretch your mathematical mind through games and manipulative challenges! Campers will play math games, complete challenges through building mathematical models, and use manipulatives to discover the “why” behind the algorithm. This is a high energy 2.5 hours of engaging with peer mathematicians to strengthen each camper’s number sense, and encourage FUN with math!

For rising 2nd – 5th graders

STEM© Camp, Courtesy of The Flint Ignites Program

We bring STEM to life using real-world, emerging tech like drones, high-end virtual reality, 3-D printing pens and snap circuitry. Campers will get extraordinary hands-on experiences with cutting-edge equipment, and exposure to the tech and STEM concepts actually used by professionals in science, technology, engineering and math. It’s incredible fun, while sparking interest in future academic and career paths in STEM with activities like building 3-D printed bridges and remote control race car alternators, virtual reality and drone exploration, and more!
