Welcome to Sports Camps

Game on! Our sports camps are coordinated by experienced University Liggett School coaches, and the focus is on expert instruction and skill development. Your sports star will have an opportunity to develop and improve skills, learn and execute challenging drills, develop an understanding of strategies and engage in games and contests using the skills learned in practice during the week. 

Sports offered include:
Boys: Basketball, Lacrosse and Soccer
Girls: Basketball, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Softball and Volleyball
Co-ed: Detroit Tigers Baseball and Softball Camps, Introduction to Strength and Conditioning, Introduction to Speed and Agility

Ages: Rising 1st – 12th-grade students
When: Dates vary by sport and age.

Boys Lacrosse Camp

Where: University Liggett School’s George Thanasas field
Lacrosse camp is on our state-of-the-art turf field with multiple cages and a throwback wall.
Who: Rising 3rd - 8th grade boys 
When: June 17-21, 9 a.m. – noon
Cost: $165             
  • Learn from ULS varsity lacrosse Coach Mike Costanzo, ULS staff, and ULS varsity players.
  • Campers will receive a pinnie and camp tee.
  • Work on skills and skill development and have a great experience!
  • Activities include faceoff training, shooting drills, individual skills, group drills, offensive & defensive techniques, fastest shot competition and game play.

Introduction to Strength and Conditioning

This program will take place within the weight room of the Boll Campus Center. This space holds state-of-the-art equipment, brand-new weights, and resistance bands for increased ways to complicate body weight exercises! This program runs Monday – Friday during each two week module.

Focus:
  • Proper movement mechanics
  • Introduction to weight training
  • Basic speed and agility drills 
Calisthenic Exercises
  • Teaching young athletes to learn proper set-up and form for exercises such as: pushups, pull-ups, squats, and deadlifts
  • Program will include basic movement drills, introducing weights to students who show proficiency in movement
  • Each day will involve core work, breathing mechanics, and cardiovascular work 
  • Develop confidence, education, and promote healthy lifestyles 
Gradual Progression
  • Each module will build upon the previous for students who choose to continue throughout the summer
  • Students can incorporate weights as they develop strength and proper movement
  • The program will develop students individually, although it is based on a group training platform
Acceleration Training
  • First step acceleration drills: Quickness and proper speed mechanics
  • Increased focus on core strength, arm swing, and lower body strength
Agility Training
  • Cone work to develop confidence in small areas
  • Plyometrics to increase power and speed
  • Landing mechanics to decrease incidence of injury
  • Change of direction work to develop lateral quickness

Introduction to Speed and Agility

This program will take place on the outdoor turf fields - weather permitting. If weather does not comply with our program, we will be able to use the weight room inside the Boll Campus Center! This space holds state-of-the-art equipment, brand-new weights, and resistance bands for increased ways to complicate body weight exercises and speed drills.
 
Focus: Basic Speed and Agility Drills
 
This program will include: Consistently progressing speed and agility drills.
  
Acceleration Training
  • First Step acceleration drills: Quickness, and proper speed mechanics
  • Increased focus on core strength, arm swing, and lower body strength

Detroit Tigers Summer Baseball Camps

We are thrilled to partner this summer with the official Youth Baseball and Softball Camps of the Detroit Tigers. The Detroit Tigers Youth Baseball and Softball Camp is the perfect vehicle to learn from the best. Camp will include:
  • Every camper will be given a full, MLB quality Detroit Tigers uniform (jersey, pants, hat and belt)
  • Four Tigers tickets to one of several Tigers Camper reunion games
  • Keepsake graduation certificate commemorating the inaugural year of the Detroit Tigers Baseball Camp
  • A guest appearance by a current top-name Tigers player. A current Tigers coach will participate in every camp
  • V.I.P Day Trip to Comerica Park for a behind-the-scenes experience
  • Skills Competition with Champions' Day at Comerica Park
