University Liggett School Alumni Weekend 2019 was a huge success thanks to the more than 200 alumni who were back on campus on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18, for two days of activities and events.
A highlight of the weekend was the recognition of our 2019 Distinguished Alumni John Evans '62 GPUS. Evans spoke to our Upper School students on Friday at community time and to fellow alumni our Alumni Weekend Lunch and Learn. Lunch and Learn attendees were delighted to hear about John's life and career.
At the All-Alumni Cocktail Reception we announced our 2019 Giving Awards including the 2019 Class Cup Winners: the Class of 1954 CDS with 41% class participation and the Knight’s Circle Award winners: the Class of 1964 with more than $25,000 in charitable donations to the school.
Our 2019 Loyalty Award Winners were also announced during the Cocktail Reception. The Loyalty Awards are given to alumni who are celebrating a milestone reunion this year who have donated to the school for 20 consecutive years or more.
On Friday, our 5th grade students met their 50th reunion alumni "pen pals" at a special meet and greet in their classrooms.
Other highlights of the weekend included our third Annual Golden Knights dinner with Head of School Bart Bronk and the ever-popular bus tour of Detroit hosted by Faculty/Coach Emeritus David Backhurst.
