At University Liggett School, we work hard to make it accessible, with financial support that helps create a diverse and inclusive student body that’s welcoming to all. As a result, our students represent a broad range of socioeconomic backgrounds, creating a student body diverse in thought and experience who are all on a journey of discovery together.
 

Financial assistance resources are finite and are typically exhausted each school year. Applicant families requesting financial aid are encouraged to apply early and adhere to posted deadlines.

Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are due by January 20, 2026.

Award decisions are based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. University Liggett School is proud to use the Clarity application to determine a family’s eligibility.

*Liggett Merit Scholarship candidates who believe the full cost of tuition is beyond the means of their family should also apply for tuition assistance by this deadline.

How does Clarity make it easier for me to apply for tuition assistance?
Clarity simplifies the process with a mobile-friendly application that can be completed in as little as 20 minutes. By applying before the deadline, Clarity allows you to transfer your W2 and 1040 forms directly from the IRS, making the application process faster and more efficient.
Is my information secure with Clarity?
Yes. Clarity is certified for both GDPR and SOC2 compliance, and uses enterprise-level security, including end-to-end encryption. For more details, please refer to Clarity’s Privacy Policy.
What types of assistance are available?
Aside from the 9th grade Liggett Merit Scholarship, all forms of assistance are based on a family’s demonstrated financial need.
Can I apply for financial assistance?
Anyone can apply. Financial assistance may be awarded to qualified families of admitted students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Financial assistance is not available for Early Childhood programs. Your admissions counselor can help guide you through the process.
Is my family eligible for financial assistance?
Many families are eligible. Clarity calculates your recommended contribution based on factors such as income, assets, family size, and medical expenses. The ULS Financial Assistance Committee uses this information to determine awards.
Do you offer athletic scholarships?
No. As per MHSAA guidelines, we do not offer athletic scholarships. However, athletics and other talents may be factored into admission decisions and family’s may be eligible for other forms of financial assistance.
Do I need to apply for financial assistance every year?
Yes, families receiving assistance must complete the Clarity application annually to remain eligible for continued financial assistance.
Do all students who are offered admission receive financial assistance if they qualify?
Unfortunately, due to limited resources, we are unable to offer financial assistance to every qualified student. There may be situations where students are admitted but placed in the wait pool for funding.
When students have parents or guardians who do not live together, do both households have to submit financial assistance applications?
Yes, both parents/guardians must submit a separate Clarity application. We consider all available resources from both households to determine the family’s ability to pay.
When will we know if we’ve received an award?
You will be notified of any financial assistance along with your admission decision.
Is there a fee to apply for financial assistance?
Yes, there is a fee to apply each year. Families must complete the Clarity application and pay the fee annually.
Who should I contact if I have questions about applying for financial assistance?
Your admissions counselor is available to answer questions about the process, policies, and deadlines. For additional support during the application, Clarity offers in-app assistance and email support in both English and Spanish.
