University Liggett School’s lacrosse program competes in the Catholic League, Division II, boasting a tradition of success with consistent winning seasons and a strong track record of All-League and All-State honorees, many of whom continue their careers at the collegiate level. Players develop fundamentals, strategy, and teamwork while learning to honor the game and compete with integrity. The program prioritizes a team-first mentality, fostering a positive experience on and off the field. ULS claimed the Catholic League Regular Season Championship in 2018 and was the Catholic League runner-up in 2021, solidifying its reputation as a top competitor.

Mike Costanzo

With over 23 years of coaching experience, Coach Mike Costanzo has built a legacy of success at every level of lacrosse. He began his coaching career in 1998 at Sewickley Academy, his alma mater, leading the team to a Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse League runner-up finish and a Western Pennsylvania championship. His journey then took him to Northern California, where he guided Berkeley High School to a California State Championship in 2003 and a runner-up finish in 2004.

Coach Costanzo continued shaping elite programs in Memphis, Tennessee, transforming Lausanne Collegiate School from a struggling 1-8 team into a state championship contender for three consecutive seasons. His impact extended internationally when he moved to Taipei, Taiwan, serving as an athletic director and helping to establish lacrosse at the international level.

Since joining University Liggett School, Coach Costanzo has continued his winning ways, leading the Knights to 10 or more victories in three of his five seasons, compiling an impressive 50-28 record. His career head coaching record stands at 157-115. In addition to coaching at ULS, he contributes to the growth of the sport as a coach for 313 Lacrosse and the Cherries youth programs.

A standout player himself, Coach Costanzo was one of the all-time leading scorers at Kenyon College. Off the field, he is an integral part of the ULS community, serving as a Lower School physical education teacher, where he continues to inspire young athletes both in the classroom and on the field.
